Reviews
This establishment reminded me a lot of a brewery from my home town, in the sense that it was an excellent experience. On our visit there was a live band playing music and a lot of folks were taking advantage of the very nice outside seating area.
I decided to grab some food so I opted for the wings. I went with the standard hot wings and they were excellent! Hot, crispy, and full of flavor. It's a shame that wing prices are still outrageous, as these wings put me back about $1.50 a wing.
Overall I would gladly stop by Pro Re Nata again if I find myself back in this area. We had a great time visiting!
Very impressed with this place. Quite large space inside with multiple bars and multiple bathrooms. Lots more space outside where the band played during the afternoon, and then another band played inside on an indoor stage.
Apart from the cool venue, the beer selection was great. I stuck with low alcohol traditional style lagers, pilsner's, wheat beer, and cream ale. All were true to their traditional styles.
Beer was okay, not great. Pizza was pretty bad, the Margherita pizza was not a Margherita pizza. It had no fresh mozzarella and no fresh tomatoes on it, it was what looked like a 4 cheese blend with oregano and basil. Very disappointing. Also the pizza had a huge amount of cornmeal on it. The Caesar salad was gross due to the dressing. Very sweet and tasted like a diet dressing and honey mustard. Not a fan.
Visited this brewery while hunting some new places to visit in the Charlottesville area. I was surprised by the size of the place. I arrived at night so couldn't really see the back outside space but it looked like a playset with swings for kids. There was also a large seating area on the side of the brewery. They serve their own beers and also have local canned cocktails and wine. It was just a quick stop but I had one bee which was good and 2 other people in my party had a canned cocktail which they enjoyed. And the live music section was great. Next time back in the area I will certainly leave myself some more time to visit the brewery.
Absolutely phenomenal visit. Family friendly! My kids had the best time dancing to the live DJ. The pizza available from Dino's there was top notch. While busy, there were plenty of folks serving and taking orders so no real line seemed to build up, even on Saturday night. I intend to visit here every time I'm in the area from now on.
Large brewery with a diverse selection of beverages (with and without alcohol). PRN has coupled with Dino's pizza for food. Lots of indoor & outdoor setting. Multiple fire pits. No shortage of parking. Easy access from to I64. PRN hosts music events and can host your event as well.
Took the wifey and kids their today while traveling home from Cass, WV. Was bummed I didnt get any good beer over the weekend. SO glad i stopped. Pro Re Nata didnt dissapoint. Great staff, beautiful location and AWESOME beer. Both IPAs were great. Wife really liked the Blonde, Hefe and Cider.
Kids loved playing cornhole and on the playground. The pizza (meat lovers and margarita) was delicious. Couldnt think of a single thing to change.
Met a couple girlfriends here for the evening.
Location: There’s plenty of parking & space to mingle outside on a warmer day but in the main space its tight with a full house. We did get to enjoy some space near the Fire Pit.
Atmosphere: Eh. Nothing really exciting. Grab a beer, chat and people watch.
Food: I ordered the Cod & Fries off the food truck and it was dang good.
Drinks: I ordered the Crozet Sensation and ended with a Not on Call. Basic.
Overall: I probably won't be back. Too “stuffy”
for me.
